A Case of Neuromyelitis Optica

Abstract

|
We report a 12 years old boy with neuromyelitis optica who has peripheral neuropathy. He was diagnosed as neuromyelitis optica, including retrobulbar optic neuritis and transverse myelitis. From the onset to present, he was noticed flaccid muscle
weakness and sensory disturbance of lower extremitis. And on examination. Deep tendon reflexes of lower extremitis were absent, nerve conduction velocity was markedly slowed. For 18 months followup after disease onset, he suffered from 3 relapses
of
optic neuritis and was treated with prednisolone.
